Don Day would like to know what your favorite restaurant is. And then share it with others on dondayinsma.wordpress.com. The original thought was a survey. But why have a survey when you can have a party. So Don Day and Don Day’s Wife are hosting one.

We’re calling it the SMARTs. Because what’s an awards program without an acronym. The letters stand for the San Miguel de Allende Reader’s Taste awards. And at the SMARTs, you’ll be asked by Don Day what your favorite restaurant is and maybe a couple of other food questions. Mostly, though, you’ll just be asked to have a good time.

And what’s going to happen at the SMARTs party?

A fabulous Mexican feast with some of Don Day’s favorite dishes being prepared by one of Don Day’s favorite chefs.
Live music from some of Don Day’s Wife’s…no make that San Miguel’s…favorite musicians (and yes, Don Day’s Wife has insisted on a dance floor).
Fun foodie type prizes (but hopefully not for dancing).

A wine tasting to determine San Miguel’s very best cheap…sorry, inexpensive…wine.
And, of course, those three words that must end every list like this, so much more.

The Date is March 30 (it’s a Sunday).
The Time is 5:00 pm (it’s early so Don Day doesn’t nod off)
The Place is La Frontera (it’s at Stirling Dickinson 28, in Plaza Pueblita)
The Price is 350 pesos (which includes the wine tasting)
The Reservations are being taken now at 152 4265 or lafronterasma@gmail.com.

Don Day and Don Day’s Wife will only have a couple of weeks left before they, like all snowbirds, flock back to the north. We’d love to meet some of the people who read dondayinsma before we leave.
