It was my wine discovery of the year in 2024. Yes, the 3 for 2 sales at Soriana and La Comer in December are great bargains but this is a sale at my favorite Mexican wine shop with many of my favorite wines. You buy six and you get 150 pesos off the price (of each and all of them). On some of the cheapies that’s about a 35% saving. In Don Day’s house that’s the time to stock way up.
Here are some of my best buys from this year’s sale.
Baron Maxime Brut Gold Reserve $390
This is Don Day’s Wife’s favorite affordable French sparkler. She’ll choose it over many much pricier champagnes. We’re excited because it’s the first time we’ve ever seen it on line.
Vino Blanca Protos Verdejo $359
This is the white grape that Spaniards drink more of than any other. But Verdejp unfortunately doesn’t get much recognition outside of it’s home country. I’m leading the campaign to stop that and this price makes it much easier.
Vino Tinto Cune Crianza $399
This is one the classic Rioja (young) crianzas from of the very best houses that I have counted on for decades and have never done wrong, Don’t think you will either.
Kirkland Signature K Vine Syrah
I bought this Kirkland brand Syrah in last year’s sale and strictly because it was a Syrah from Washington and very, very cheap. It’s now a regular on my list.
Vino Tinto Liberty School. $459
Couldn’t finish without a California cab and it’s a big favorite that had sneaked over my everyday affordable budget last year. With this sale I’m welcoming it back below that ceiling level again.
Delivery is included in all of the wine prices from Costco but beware that the wines come from different warehouses and they may come in two or three different shipments. By the second or third day of the sale last year, about half of the wines were out of stock so I’m strongly suggesting you hustle in your order.
You’ll find the pages of wines available at costco.com.mx. I always find it easiest to sort from the lowest price to the high.
And one more thing. Please be aware that the “promotion is not available in the state of Chihuahua”. Sure wish I knew why.
Given the current DON’T BUY AMERICAN anti-tariff campaigns in both Mexico and Canada, could you suggest substitutes for the Liberty & Kirkland wines please. Gracias.
Unfortunately nothing compares. I’m of the belief that the tariffs won’t happen but if they do I’ll join the boycott too (but I’ll miss those U.S. wines).
