Significant if the stars you seek are the shining stars of the Galaxy Oenologia Major. I’m talking about some of the winners of the World Wine Awards that I wrote about last week. And this news coming after I learned that they are now all sold out at La Europea.

My weinhund number one, who can smell an open bottle of Pinot Noir from 100 meters, reports that both Citra Montepulciano and Santa Rita Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Reserva are on Mega’s shelves.

The Citra is priced exactly the same as at La Europea at $133. The Santa Rita, at $272, is a titch higher than La Europea’s price of $259.

My weinhund number two, who can spot a Brunello on the shelves of a liquor store with the lights off, reports a sighting of Campo Viejo Rioja priced at $181 which is, unfortunately, quite a bit more than La Europea’s $155. The sighting was at Mega’s sister supermarket, Soriano. And being man’s best friend, my wine hound promised me that he’d left at least a dozen in the rack.

Ready. Set. Go!
